The shield is surrounded by coconut leaves. Above is the 12-pointed star beneath a yellow scroll bearing NAOERO in black. What is depicted is the alchemists' symbol for phosphorus (a triangle topped with a cross). The modern symbol for phosphorus is simply the letter P.
